This activity gives the fidgeters something to do with their hands, while emphasizing cooperation and communication from all team members.
Play-Doh™ or any other modeling compound (your choice as to the amount and whether or not you offer multiple colors)
Instructions to the Team:
To go with this year’s Animal Allies theme, your task is to use this Play-Doh™ to build an animal that represents your team. You will have 3 minutes to strategize and build. At the end of the 3 minutes, you will have 1 minute to explain why you chose this animal and how it represents your team.
For older or more experienced teams, try providing just one color of Play-Doh™ to push the team’s creativity in building a representative model. Or go the other direction, and provide several colors plus modeling tools, such as mold, scissors, cookie cutters, and a rolling pin, to test whether the team can focus and agree on a single strategy and direction when presented with a variety of options.
What was the biggest challenge for your team: deciding what to build, actually building it, or explaining their model once it was built?
How many team members could take part in the actual building process? How did the team make sure everyone was involved in some way?
