We have one goal in mind – help those who love helping others. This refactor does exactly that – it makes the lives of team and group leaders easier. Here is why we refactored our product, and what it means to you.
Every time a company launches a product, they learn something important from their users. Whether it’s a small company or a large company, every change has an effect. In our case, we launched December of 2015 – and Like most companies, we learned a lot.
After the initial launch, we put our focus on how our product helps solve problems for our users. Our team went heads down on doing research and identifying problems. We received feedback from new and existing users, sent out surveys, held usability tests, you name it.
To provide an example, let’s imagine you are a coach. When it comes to managing a team, there are a lot of people trying to stay organized using multiple tools. Email platforms, social media, apps, even pen and paper. Something as simple as making sure your team knows about a location change might require you to make 20-30 phone calls. StartingPoints takes that from a 2 hour task, to a 5 minute task.
Although we learned a lot, that type of research didn’t send us entirely back to the drawing board – we simply learned from our experiences and added that to our hypothesis. Then, just 3 short months ago, we began building something we hope people love.
Whether you are a new or existing user, here is what you can expect from our latest release.

Know who opened your email, and who didn’t
If you’ve ever asked the question, “did you see my email?” you’re going to love this feature. Imagine you’re a coach, and the day before a game, the time gets changed. StartingPoints not only gives you one email address that contacts whole team, we’ll show you which team members actually opened the email. Instead of wondering who received your message, you’ll know instantly. The best part is – in one click, you can re-send a message to those who did not open your email, making sure your entire group knows about the update.
All of your messages in one place
The next big update you’ll notice is the feed. This gives your group one place to stay engaged. Members can communicate on specific messages to stay in the loop. On the homepage, you’ll be able to see all of your messages amongst all of your groups. You can also select a specific group and view their feed.
Quickly create groups, invite members, and send messages.
You’ll also notice a big green button in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. This allows you to take quick action items throughout the site. Our goal here is to save you time when engaging members.
Choose between sending emails or posting on the feed.
When it comes to sending messages, we know that most of the time people use StartingPoints to send group emails. We also know that people like to have fun when communicating with a group. That’s why we give you a great option when creating a new message. You’ll notice a toggle that allows you to send the message as an email, or only post the message to the feed. This keeps email blasts and social butterflies happy.
Have fun categorizing members
Imagine if you’re a soccer coach, and you need to communicate with specific people on your team. You have assistant coaches, snack parents, etc. With our category feature, you can appoint members roles/categories and have fun doing it. This gives you the ability to manage and send messages to specific categories in just one click. In addition, you can send emails directly to YourCategory.YourGroup@StartingPointsMail.com from your primary email client. If you’re wondering why I’m describing it as “fun,” you’ll have to see for yourself 🙂
Instantly find what you’re looking for
At the very top, you’ll notice our new search feature. It may sound basic – but search allows you to distinguish between members and messages. Our goal here is to help you find what you’re looking for, faster.
